Kimmie Kawauchi is passionate about creating vibrant artworks that tell compelling stories. Through participation in various online communities, the interest in drawing and creating comic book art was kept alive.
She has published the comic Heartspace vol. 1 , which includes the stories Without you and Chasing Love. As well as Yokai, with drawings of mythical creatures rooted in folk tales from Danish and Japanese culture.
In 2018 she designed the mascots for the Japanese popular culture festival JPopcon and this year she designed the motif for the festival poster for Copenhagen Comics 2024.
The design shows a breadth of fans, the genres we love and the many possibilities for visual storytelling that exist in the comic book medium.
At the festival, it will be possible to buy a signed version of the poster. Half of the proceeds go to Kimmie and the other half to the Copenhagen Comics association. We’ll update you with all the practical information when it’s ready, so keep an eye on the program.
