Tommi Musturi visits Copenhagen Comics 2024

Tommi Musturi is a Finnish illustrator and artist known for his virtuosic and generous style, switching between styles and expressions with playful ease.

Tommi Musturi (born 1975) is a Finnish cartoonist, illustrator, graphic designer and artist based in Siuro, Finland. He graduated from the University of Arts and Design in Helsinki. Musturi is one of the artistic directors of the Helsinki Comics Festival and is also involved in music, graphic design, illustration, art and performance art. His works have been published in 20 countries.

Tommi Musturi is known for his virtuosic and generous style, switching styles and expressions with playful ease. A rhetorical tool where he draws inspiration from all the different styles, identities, objects and subjects he has used in his work so far to unfold the complexity of the dark and abstract subject matter at the center of the comics.

The different styles challenge the reader’s expectations of the style as something safe and recognizable and of the comic book genre as a whole.

Tommi Musturi’s publications include:

FUTURE: Tommi Musturi’s new comic is a strange science fiction epic published as a 10-magazine series. This series spans confusing networks of stories set in different times and places throughout the universe.

SUURIN PIIRTEIN SAMUEL: This is Tommi Musturi’s second Samuel graphic novel. This book is slightly different from the first – with different storytelling styles.

The Doozers’ Book: Tommi Musturi has also collaborated with Danish Smittekilde on this book. It presents The Doozers’ house as it was intended

You can experience Tommi Mustiri and many more exciting guests at Copenhagen Comics 2024 on May 18-19, 2024.
