We have chosen Petra Hauthorn Svennevig to create this year’s poster. She graduated from The Animation Workshop in 2023 and now works as an illustrator, background designer and cartoonist.
We asked her how she found her inspiration for this year’s poster:
“This year’s theme is hope, and for me it’s especially about all the people who put effort into doing something good for each other. We have a lot of those people in the comics community, volunteers, activists, creators, educators, and many many more.
That’s why I got the idea for the “speech bubble garden”, where all kinds of amazing things grow out of our little ecosystem.”

She further elaborates on her drawing style and process:
“The poster is drawn with an ink brush and colored with collage. I chose bright strong colors, both because yellow and magenta play really well with Copenhagen Comics cyan blue, and because I think hope should be something with sparkle in it.
I draw a lot on the computer everyday, where I make backgrounds for animation, so when I make my own illustrations and comics, I love to dive into the tactile and analog.
I love all things quirky, quirky and man-made, and that’s exactly what I think we celebrate at Copenhagen Comics”.
