Laurent Astier visits Copenhagen Comics 2024

Meet French illustrator Laurent Astier at the e-vokes booth, where he is currently releasing volume 4 of the western series The Poison

After studying Applied Arts and Graphics at the Lycée Honoré-d’Urfé in Saint-Étienne and at the Lycée Raymond Loewy in La Souterraine, Laurent Asier started a graphic communications agency with two of his fellow students. In 1999, he moved to Paris and joined the small team at In Utero, a video game developer working on the Evil Twin game, Cyprien’s Chronicle, a platform adventure game.

In 2001, he published his first album with Glénat. In 2002, the first volume of the Cirk trilogy was published in the Zenda collection.

In 2003, he published Gong, a 120-page graphic novel, a one-shot set in the New York boxing world, and subsequently drew the artwork for a three-volume crime novel, Aven, which was written by his brother Stefan.

From 2008 to 2011, he illustrated the documentary comic strip “L’Affaire des affaires” in collaboration with journalist Denis Robert and Yan Lindingre. The first two volumes received the 2010 Prix France Info for best topical and reporting comic in 2010. The series was also made into a movie in 2015 under the title “L’Enquête”, directed by Vincent Garenq, starring Gilles Lellouche.

In 2014 and 2015, he created a 112-page one-shot, “Comment faire fortune en juin 40”, in collaboration with Fabien Nury and Xavier Dorison as scriptwriters and Laurence Croix as colorist.

January 2019 saw the release of the first volume of his western series “The Poison,” which he wrote, drew and colored himself. The series, planned for five volumes, revolves around Emily, a young woman driven by a deep thirst for revenge, whose story gradually unfolds in the series. The initial album, “Déluge de feu”, was well received.

Laurent Astier will be at the E-vokes stand, so you can buy an album with us and get a signature in the western series “Giften” – where album 4 of the series will be released.

You can experience Laurent Astier and many more exciting guests at Copenhagen Comics 2024 on May 18-19, 2024.
