Zven Balslev is a Danish artist best known for his work in illustration, comics and animation.
Balslev has created a variety of comic book projects and illustrations for both children and adults. He has also worked in animation and has contributed to several animated films and TV productions. Balslev’s style is often characterized by his detailed and imaginative approach to drawing and illustration. The motifs in his work are reminiscent of comic books and take inspiration from horror and surrealism and his work is often risky, surprising and goes beyond the predetermined.
Zven Balslev graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2006. Between 1998 and 2010, Balslev was behind Smittekilde Publishing, and today he runs Cult Pump Publishing. Zven Balslev is represented in the collections of the National Gallery of Denmark, the Royal Collection of Graphic Art and the Danish Arts Foundation.
He occasionally teaches at The Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark, where he shares his expertise with students and offers 1-to-1 mentoring, editorial feedback and creative workshops.
